Start of the Marathon and the Half Marathon will be next to the St. Jakobspark (“Joggeli”), St. Jakobs-Strasse 397, 4052 Basel.
The finish will be on the Marktplatz in the old town of Basel.
The tram No.14 connects the St.Jakobspark with the Marktplatz. The distance between the two spots is about 3 kilometers (beeline).
Getting there by car
From Switzerland (Zürich, Bern, Luzern):
- Take the highway A3 to Basel
- Leave the highway on exit 6 in direction of Muttenz/Delémont
- Turn left at the Gellerstrasse
- Follow the parking signs at the St. Jakobspark
From the north (Germany)
- Take the highway A5 to the border
- After the customs take the highway A2 in direction of Zurich/Berne
- Cross the Rhine on the Schwarzwaldbrücke
- Take the left tunnel at the Y-Junction
- Keep on the right side after the tunnel
- Leave the highway on exit 6 in direction of Hagnau
- Follow the signs in direction of
Karlsruhe/Basel/Mulhouse to get to the other side of the highway
- Then follow the signs in direction of Delémont/Sankt Jakob (do not head back in direction of Germany)
- Turn left at the Gellerstrasse
- Follow the parking signs at the St. Jakobspark
By Train
Domestic (from Switzerland)
Take the train to the Basel SBB station, then walk (approx. 4 minutes) or take the public transport (Line 8, 10 or 11) to the Aeschenplatz. Take tram no. 14 to the St. Jakobs stadium (approx. 9 minutes).
From the north (Germany)
Take the train to the Basel SBB station via Badischer Bahnhof, then walk (approx. 4 minutes) or take the public transport (Line 8, 10 or 11) to the Aeschenplatz. Take tram no. 14 to the St. Jakobs stadium (approx. 9 minutes)..
Important Notice
The finish is situated on the Marktplatz in the old town of Basel, which will be closed for traffic mostly. Getting there by car is fairly impossible. Everyone who does not intend to park their car at the start (St. Jakobspark) is asked to use the various carparks. We recommend following carparks in Kleinbasel:
- Carpark Klaramatte (Klingenstrasse 25, 4057 Basel) about 800 meters from the finish.
- Carpark Badischer Bahnhof (Schwarzwaldstrasse 160, 4058 Basel). A large carpark directly at the highway A2 and about 1.7 km from the finish. Tram no. 2 and no. 6 lead to this carpark
- Carpark Messe Basel (via Riehenstrasse). A large carpark directly at the Messe Basel and about 1 km from the finish.
All participants coming from Germany get the opportunity to take the train home via Badischer Bahnhof.
